So, with it operational, I tested the download speed. A huge gain for the signal in both strength and speed for that side of the house! The device also reduces signal interference to ensure reliable Wi-Fi coverage throughout your home or office. But the fact it can do more than one thing makes it more likely to keep paying for itself in the future, rather than sitting idle because you upgraded to a more powerful router, moved to a smaller house, or decided it was too cold to work in the shed. It has extended my wifi to the far regions of my home giving acceptable speed and a seamless connection. It is easy to use and simple to setup and took no more than 5 minutes to do. I had great coverage at that end of the house but was a little spotty in the other end.
I can not sing the praises of this range extender enough. I recently upgraded to a 30 Mbps internet plan and was only getting that in the bedroom above where my router was located. Yet the minuses above are something to be reckoned with. The large circular button will have a blue ring around it if your extender is in a good location at least halfway between the router and your dead zone and red if it is too far away. But then I checked the firmware. I used this device to connect to the wifi in the cassino across the street and was able to stream netflix.
All in all so far this router is a welcomed upgrade. After doing research I decided upon this one. This had great reviews on line. I would recommend this to a friend This extender was very easy to set up. Things seem to stay connected and the signal is strong. . I have this hooked up in my bedroom which is farthest from my router and modem and it provides amazing range and connection.
Still not confident that it is working properly I would recommend this to a friend I purchased this extender because I had a less expensive one that was not getting the job done. Did it help my dead spot and increase my speeds? Older NetGear couldn't handle 100meg. The electrical plug is at the bottom of the unit and covers most of the other plug in your electrical outlet. It works tremendously better wired, but the only way to do that is via PowerLine. You can also plug a device into it using and Ethernet wire to connect to the internet if the device does not have Wi-Fi capabilities. I live in a 4000 sq ft, 100 year old house with lath and plaster walls which are a dead zone nightmare. Also, unlike the comment made by one of the other reviewers, I still had the use of the second plug on my standard 2 plug outlet.
Most were difficult to set up and would drop connection and require rebooting constantly. Actual wireless transmission rate, wireless coverage, and number of connected devices are not guaranteed, and will vary as a result of 1 environmental factors, including building materials, physical objects and obstacles, 2 network conditions, including local interference, volume and density of traffic, product location, network complexity, and network overhead and 3 client limitations, including rated performance, location, connection quality, and client condition. Other scenarios where you might want to reset your router is if you've forgotten the password or misconfigured it and can't get access anymore. One of the main features of Fi is that it will route all your voice traffic over your home WiFi to always ensure the best possible quality. The signal and speeds from the extender for both bands are very stable.
We replaced both units with this and the signal is terrific. I have an Airport Extreme base station and was very happy with it. With a built-in mains plug, it looks similar to a powerline adapter, albeit flatter. Very easy to set it up and it's working pretty good since the beginning. However, there was one problem.
I pushed a button on my Fios Quantum Router and a button on this unit, watched the lights flash for a few moments, and the setup was done. If you want an extender specifically to connect older devices at distances of several dozen yards, this might not be the best option. Researched main brands and very disturbed by reliability issues per reviews. To be honest, this was just a little may be better developed. I would recommend this to a friend I bought this because there is a dead spot in one of my rooms and needed a wifi extender. Ouch, ran 138 meg depending on where I tested from. Now for the real test.
We're very pleased with this unit and have ordered another. Had a little trouble get it set up but contacted customer support and they couldn't do enough for me. The only problem that I have found with this product is that even if you plug it into the top outlet then it will still cover enough of the bottom one to make it not usable. I would recommend this to a friend When initially set up, I needed to manually connect to the extender but. Another awesome feature is the Extender can duplicate your existing WiFi setup, therefore eliminating the need to make any changes to your devices.
Tested download speed for a benchmark before installation. Not only that, but the unit has not had a hiccup once since being placed into service. Things slowed down when we used older mobile devices, which could only connect on the 2. The instant internet connections were glorious — and then came WiFi. I didn't have any contact with the support yet so I can't provide any feedback about it. If you position it too far from your router, the ring of blue light on the front lets you know by turning red. Neutral review due to possible installation issues.
